Tinlin family’s TRC Services takes on the insurance claim along with the roof

A Plain City roofing company run by Tracy and Lawrence Tinlin works through hail-damage claims for homeowners and roofs apartment complexes across the country.

TRC Services dates its roofing work in central Ohio to 1986. The company belongs to the Tinlin family and works out of a suite on Industrial Parkway in Plain City, where it handles residential and commercial roofs.

Tracy and Lawrence Tinlin sign the company’s short statement of principle. They say they treat clients like family, because in their view family comes first.

Much of what the company offers happens off the roof. TRC Services says it walks clients through insurance claims, a process it admits can be frustrating. It lists storm damage beside roofing as one of its two main services.

A homeowner with a hail-damaged roof described how that went for him. Lawrence, Tracy and their crew dealt with his insurance company directly, he wrote, and kept track of the smallest details so he didn’t have to worry about them. The job moved fast, he added, and the cleanup afterward was thorough.

The company’s other specialty takes it a long way from Plain City. TRC Services says it roofs apartment complexes nationwide and will travel to the building, and it singles out larger flat-roof projects as work its crews handle well. A roofer working from one suite on Industrial Parkway is taking jobs in other states.

On houses, the company puts Owens Corning shingles first and offers them in a range of colors and styles. Metal roofing is the alternative. GAF, another shingle maker, lists TRC Services as a certified residential contractor, and the Better Business Bureau has shown the company as accredited since April 2019. The company also says its crews work with the appropriate safety equipment.

Some of the work is indoors. TRC Services does custom kitchen and bathroom remodels, with more counter space, new plumbing fixtures and new flooring among the examples it gives. It also installs and cleans gutters. On the company’s own list, though, the remodeling comes after the roofing, and the roofing goes back to 1986.

The office on Industrial Parkway opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m., six days a week, Saturdays included.
